More information
The Wanja Kersa region is blessed with abundant rainfall and soaring altitudes between 1,800 and 2,200 masl. Coffee is the lifeblood of the community here, grown on tiny plots of land that range from just 0.1 to 2 hectares.
Around 579 smallholder farmers bring their harvests to the Yukro Washing Station, where processing is carried out with exceptional care. Our partners at Red Fox Coffee Merchants have worked with Yukro and neighboring cooperatives for over 15 years, helping these coffees gain the recognition they deserve.
When Red Fox co-founder Aleco first visited Agaro in 2009, local coffees were still undervalued and indistinguishable on the market. The USAID Technoserve project changed that by installing modern washing stations. Aleco quickly recognized the unique character of these lots and began building the long-term relationships that continue to this day.
Yukro shines with a silky body and layers of vibrant fruit, finishing in delicate floral notes reminiscent of elderflower. It’s a coffee that feels both refined and expressive—a clear reflection of the care and character that define this region.
