Plus d'info
Fazenda Recanto sits in Brazil’s Região Vulcânica, a pocket of Minas Gerais where coffee thrives in fertile volcanic soils at over 900 metres above sea level. The Magalhães Paiva family has been here since 1896, passing down both the land and a deep knowledge of coffee through five generations. Today, Maria Selma and Afrânio, both trained agronomists, run the farm with their daughter Paula, combining tradition with a thoughtful, quality-driven approach.
Rainforest Alliance certified, Recanto has set aside over a third of its land as preserved forest, creating natural corridors for wildlife and helping to protect local biodiversity. The farm is home to a variety of species including toucans and other tropical birds. They also experiment with biochar, a natural soil conditioner made by carbonizing organic material, to improve soil health and store carbon for the long term. These practices, along with careful harvesting and processing, ensure coffees that reflect both the richness of the land and the family’s enduring commitment to sustainability.
