ABOUT THIS CAFE

Traceability is a relatively new concept in the field of coffee in East Africa. For years, the market was dominated by large exporters and the coffees produced in these countries were simply identified by their region. Today, with the help of partners such as Sucafina and their use of modern technology, we are able to identify not only the city and region, but the specific car wash as well as all the information relating to the producer, including the quantity and price paid for each grain purchased.

We were so impressed with Sucafina's professionalism and transparency that we made deals for several cafes aware of the latest. For the third consecutive year, Nemba, a natural process coffee from the washing station of the same name, in the province of Kayanza in Burundi, is finally back. This washing station receives grain from more than 3,000 small producers, mostly located in the hills of Gitwa, Mikuba and Nkonge.

Sucafina works with the renowned producer and exporter Greenco in order to offer coffees from Burundi with the highest quality standards. In addition, all Greenco stations are lit with solar energy, have a water treatment system and every Saturday, roasted coffee is distributed to farmers so that they can better understand how their product is transformed.

THE SUCAFINA FARMGATE INITIATIVE

This coffee is part of our partnership with Sucafina North America. As part of Sucafina's Farmgate Initiative , we donate $5¢ for every pound of coffee we purchase through them. This sum goes directly to the farmers either in monetary form or in the form of livestock, health insurance or solar energy.
